Money Buddies

Synopsis

Oscar (Sergio Castellitto) is a cynical man, a failed lawyer who survives by ripping off the local authorities – he invents “accidents” and claims that supposedly handicapped people have fallen victim to them. Armando (Rocco Papaleo) is a good man who grew up poor on the city’s outskirts. He has just been released from prison having served a 25-year sentence for a crime he never committed. Nonetheless, prison has left his positive view of the world unblemished. Not welcomed by his family, he spends his first night as a free man alone on the rainy streets; his only company is a scruffy dog that follows him everywhere.

The next morning, Oscar and Armando meet for the first time in front of a sweet and sympathetic Carmen (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi). In Oscar’s case, Armando’s sees a great opportunity: Why not sue the state for millions for convicting an innocent man?

In an attempt to find redemption and, through the search for evidence, a strong and unexpected friendship begins to develop.
