The 4th Company

Synopsis

Zambrano is 20. All he has is his football gear, an uncanny talent for breaking into cars, and a sentence to do time in the infamous Santa Martha Acatitla prison in Mexico City. The only time he feels free is when he plays American football. A sporting legend is born: Los Perros (“The Dogs”). This team will go far beyond the walls of the prison where they’re also known as "The 4th Company", a group of inmates who serve as the prison administration’s enforcers. They’ll be Zambrano’s company – serving as his protectors but also posing a threat to him as he loses his innocence and risks also losing his life.

Director

AMIR GALVÁN CERVERA, 1975

Amir studied cinema majoring in direction and cinematography at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica, he is a director and producer with experience in projects of fiction and documentary cinema, TV and advertising. He has worked in at least twenty projects selected by major international film festivals, Highlighting the Emmy awarded and most successful Theatrical documentary in Mexican cinema history. Presumed Guilty (Presumed Guilty). He has benefited from the Mexican Cinematographic Institute’s Film-
makers’ Incentives Program (Programa Estímulo a Creadores Cinematográficos del Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía (IMCINE)), and his work as a director/
producer has been awarded among other distinctions such as : the Ariel award for Best Documentary Film and the José Rovirosa Award from the UNAM Filmoteca for the film Lo que quedó de Pancho. La 4ª Compañía a Mexican and Spanish coproduction as his his first feature length movie as director along with Vanessa Arreola, next to be commercially launched and internationally distributed.

 

MITZI VANESSA ARREOLA, 1977

Vanessa Arreola studied Communication Science with a major in cinema at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and studied Literary Creation at the Escuela de Escritores of the SOGEM. She is a film director and cinema author, although her experience includes other areas of the audiovisual chore for film, television and advertising. She has been beneficiary and jury of several support programs for the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) and the "Young Artists' Program, FONCA. She has been awarded for best script at the “Alejandro Galindo” Screenwriting workshop, given by Vicente Leñero (FIDECINE, IMCINE, SEXCUEC, UNAM and SOGEM), and the TVE award at the FICG’s Ibero-american Co-Production Meetings for La 4ª Compañía screenplay. She currently directs the film The Cleft (formerly "The Apandito"), a documentary about childhood in imprisonment, and writes a couple of feature films in development among them Between the Sun and the Giants.

THE 4th COMPANY is the directors' first feature film.
