The Peacocks Paradise
by Laura Bispuri

On a winter's day, Nena brings her family together to celebrate her birthday. Everyone is there: her husband Umberto; her son Vito and his wife Adelina and their child Alma; her daughter Caterina and her ex-boyfriend Manfredi with his new girlfriend Joana; cousin Isabella; her housekeeper Lucia and her daughter Grazia. And then there is Paco, Alma's peacock. While waiting for a lunch that will never arrive, Paco falls in love with a little dove in a painting. An impossible love that shakes the whole family: everybody is pushed to reflect on their true feelings and on what remains and what is gone forever.
Born in 1977 in Rome, Laura Bispuri won a David di Donatello Award with her first short Passing Time and a Nastro d'argento with the following Biondina.
Her first film Sworn Virgin was presented in Competition at the Berlinale and received the Nora Ephron Prize at Tribeca FF, the Firebird Award at Hong Kong FF, the Golden Gate New Directors Prize at San Francisco FF, the FIPRESCI at Off Camera in Krakow and a Globo D'oro.
Her second film Daughter of Mine was also in Competition at the Berlinale. Variety included her in its "10 Directors to Watch" list and the film was selected by numerous festivals around the world, including London’s BFI and LA’s AFI, winning awards at Shanghai IFF and Haifa FF.
